The Background

The Botanist, Coventry is part of the New World Trading Company family, whose instinct for adventure drives everything that the company does. New World prides itself on creating the most curious and unconventional places, and The Botanist is one of those brands.

The Challenge

The theme behind The Botanist brands is to create a secret garden of food and drink; a place where antiquities and trinkets hang from the walls, and resident botanists craft unusual concoctions.

Having already created wondrous lighting for other Botanist sites, Chantelle Lighting was commissioned to carry out the work.

It was important to maintain The Botanist's brand design, while at the same time ensuring this new venue had its own identity.

The Solution

Chantelle Lighting created a range of lighting for the venue, from bespoke feature fittings to complementary pendant, wall and table lights.

The pieces include a feature mesh frame dressed with a variety of plants and greenery and from which hang seven of Chantelle Lighting's reeded glass globe pendant drops, in the Secret Garden.

Then, in the bandstand, is a botanical feature chandelier with brass and scientific clamp arms hung with a variety of cut glass shade and glass beakers.

Table lighting includes three light greenhouse style pendants with reeded glass panels and wood trim, eight double reeded glass shade pendants with antique brass detailing, nine single reeded glass shade pendants with antique brass detailing and eight vintage wall lights with antique brass swan neck arm and clear reeded glass shades.

A total of 19 holophane glass dome pendants with antique brass trim and detailing hang over the bar and spotlights ensure the perfect ambience throughout.

The Result

The Botanist, Coventry has its own signature look while maintaining the look and feel of the overall brands, meeting the New World brief perfectly.
