The challenge

Having previously worked on the Pit Bar projects, KPP Architects and Caulder Moore Design were tasked with creating a Leeds City Centre bar of a different theme. Manahatta was to replicate the bars of Manhattan with their stylish laid back atmosphere incorporating the typical urban yet New York vibe.

The solution

To achieve this, exposed steel beams, white washed brick walls and Chantelle's exclusive District range were teamed together to create an amazing result.  The versatility of the District range meant the designers could add a pop of colour where needed in the scheme and use clear glass with filament lamps when a more subtle impact was needed. Over the bar area, Chantelle created floating veneer boxes with strips of LED light. These were inspired by the towering sky scrapers that New York is known for.

Richard Lockey from KPP Architects said: "When we approached Chantelle Lighting's design team with our concept, they immediately shared our vision and knew that their District Range would complement Manahatta perfectly.

Their District range is actually inspired  by New York so these fittings were the obvious choice. We chose the Yonkers pendant fitting because of its unusual shape and the honey colour gave one of our dining rooms the ambience we were looking for. We also chose the Manhattan and Newark fittings in different colours.  Chantelle gave us the flexibility of tailoring the colour of the pendants to work with the bars colour scheme."

The result

Arc Inspirations wanted to produce a venue that was stylish yet comfortable and known for its unique interior.
