Part of the Seafood Pub Company, The Farmers Arms is a gastro pub with a difference. It offers creative food in outstanding surroundings, with knowledgeable staff who are committed to service excellence.

The challenge

The Farmers Arms is the biggest pub-restaurant in the Seafood Pub Company portfolio - two floors with an outside dining courtyard and the capacity for large functions and private dining.

Joycelyn Neve, Founder of The Seafood Pub Company, said: "It was important that The Farmers Arms retained some of the features of the other gastro pubs in our group - The Oyster and Otter, Assheton Arms and Fenwick Arms - whilst also having its own individual identity.

"During the refurbishment of the property, we retained many of the original features of the pub whilst creating a new first floor dining area. We wanted to be sympathetic to the existing features of the pub whilst creating a contemporary neighbourhood restaurant/pub feel.

"Lighting was a key part of the refurbishment and the way Chantelle Lighting interpreted and developed our ideas helped us to create a really exciting look."

The solution

Chantelle Lighting worked closely with Joycelyn and her team to put together a soft industrial theme which would give the homely interior of the pub a quirky edge.

The Seafood Pub Company played a very hands on role in the design process, meeting with Chantelle Lighting's Project Managers and visiting its production factory to look at different lights and discuss how they would work together to create the chosen theme.

Joycelyn said:

"The team at Chantelle Lighting were fantastic at thinking about how our ideas would work practically in the restaurant, showing us how different light designs would work well together and helping us to create our ideal look.

"We combined bespoke light fittings with some of Chantelle's existing products to produce exactly the look we wanted: contemporary and quirky yet welcoming and homely."

The result

Since opening in October 2013, customers have regularly praised the Farmers Arms team for its interiors and in particular, its lighting.

"The lighting has been commented on positively so many times by our customers. In particular, they all love the spider fitting above the dining tables which features a number of filament bulbs draped from different lengths of drops.

"Working with Chantelle Lighting is a pleasure, they are extremely skilled at understanding our needs and ideas and turning these into something unique and with a real wow factor."
