
The Rutland Hotel is a bespoke and luxurious city centre boutique hotel, restaurant and cocktail bar situated between Edinburgh's main shopping area and the busy financial district.
The challenge
Located on the iconic Princes Street, designers Tibbatts Abel were mindful of maintaining the historic detail and scale of the Grade A listed building whilst achieving a dynamic refurbishment.
Once the home of renowned surgeon Joseph Lister, The Rutland is steeped in history and has become an Edinburgh institution. Tibbatts Abel was entrusted with creating a 100 cover
The solution
Having worked with Chantelle Lighting on a number of previous hospitality refurbishment
He said: "We enjoy working with Chantelle Lighting because they have an ability to understand our concepts and visions and build on them to create a finished product which always wows our clients.
"We knew our refurbishment had to remain sympathetic to the Rutland Hotel's heritage and position in Edinburgh's history, whilst also creating a feeling of luxury and glamour. Industrial themed lighting, using items such as pipework and bottles create a unique feel in the cocktail bar whilst a huge feature light in the private dining room is a big talking point. Each bedroom is decorated individually but they are all a blend of baroque design and ultra-modern styling."
