The Challenge

The Crowne Plaza - Roxburghe has recently undergone a
three-year refurbishment plan which included the total transformation of the bar and restaurant area into the new look George Street Bar and Grill.

Edinburgh is renowned for its stylish restaurants and designer Julie Paterson of the Occa Design Company wanted to make sure that the new facilities were as stylish and innovative as the dishes offered on the new menu.

So when it came to lighting, a crucial part of any design, Julie commissioned Chantelle Lighting to provide the finishing touches that would enhance as well as complement her ideas.

The Solution

In line with work undertaken on other parts of the hotel, the aim throughout was to retain the old-style glamour of this Georgian property, while giving it a contemporary new twist.

Pendant cluster lighting, complemented with matching wall lights made for a winning combination - their clean lines perfectly off-setting Julie's bold design with its inviting blend of modern and traditional.

"The restaurant and bar were previously restricted to hotel guests, but as part of the refurbishment plans, Crowne Plaza decided to open these facilities up the public and operate them as an independent part of the hotel" said Julie.

"The new design had to reflect that and Anthony Holly, Managing Director at Chantelle Lighting was really helpful in ensuring that we made both the right choice and that everything went well with the order.

"Chantelle's website covers a really good range of lighting including the more unusual pieces and there are lots of designs to choose from."

The Result

Julie and everyone at the George Street Bar and Grill are delighted with the look of the new conversion and the venue is already attracting excellent reviews.

"The industrial-styled range offered by Chantelle Lighting is really different and way ahead of lots of the designs offered by other lighting companies" said Julie.

"We would definitely use them again."
