The iconic décor in each bar provides the perfect backdrop for drinkers as they sample one or more of the huge range of vodka and rum-based cocktails on the menu.

Revolution was ranked 25th in the 2013 The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list and employs around 1,800 people.

The Challenge

Revolution bars offer a trans-Atlantic experience to customers with the décor being heavily influenced by some of New York's coolest bars.

Photographs of some of the world's iconic leaders from fashion, music and politics, line the walls and the whole emphasis in each bar is about individuality and attention to detail.

So, for this reason, lots of thought and planning was put into the recent refurbishment of four of the bars in the chain.

Designer Mark Mason said: "Revolution bars follow fashion and people expect a 'statement' look so we needed to source bespoke lighting that reflected and complemented that."

"I had dealt with Chantelle Lighting on many occasions before and knew if I gave them our design brief that they would be able to come up with exactly what we wanted."

The Solution

After Mark outlined his vision for the bars being refurbished, Chantelle Lighting came up with a range of potential options for him to choose from.

The suggested lighting ranged from reproductions to actual vintage models, all of which had been carefully chosen to reflect and complement the uniqueness of each of the four bars.

Having a range of options to choose from also meant that designs could be personalised to overcome any potential issues arising in the installation process.

The Result

The success of the Revolution chain owes as much to ambience and setting as it does to customer service and the range of drinks on offer and choosing the right type of lighting is essential to help set the scene.

The lights created by Chantelle have now been safely installed and blend in perfectly with their iconic surroundings.

"Anthony, managing director at Chantelle Lighting is great for that, as he takes photographs of lights he sees on his travels and comes up with his own bespoke alternatives for us" said Mark.

"He is also good at contacting us with items he has seen in other places, or made up in his Lancashire factory to see if we can use them.

"So many companies rely on catalogues, but we like to deal with Chantelle because they offer lights that are totally unique, which is perfect for our work with the Revolution chain."
